History

Empire Title & Escrow was formed in 1991 by a group of six dedicated professionals with over 140 years of experience in the title insurance and real estate industry at that time.  Our underwriting, legal, escrow and support staffs are second to none.

Empire became a wholly owned subsidiary of MegaBank in 1999.  MegaBank, chartered in Denver in 1983, had at the time assets of $300 million and a strong niche in land development and residential construction financing.

In April 2000, Empire became a subsidiary of Compass Bancshares, Inc., when they acquired MegaBank.  Compass Bancshares, Inc. (Compass) is a Sunbelt-based financial services company that operates 357 full-service banking offices in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Texas.  Compass is among the top 40 U.S. Bank holding companies by asset size and ranks among the top earners of its size based on return on equity.

On April 30, 2002 Compass sold Empire back to a Denver group that consists of two of the original founders of the company.  The executive management team remains focused on growing Empire's presence in the market place.

Empire represents two national underwriters who were carefully selected for the unique blend of characteristics they offer in servicing both residential and commercial real estate transactions. These underwriters include:
